Thieves are reportedly abusing auction site eBay to sell plagiarized vehicles for the purposes of the name of a lawful gondola, the BBC has concluded .

Con artists- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one scapegoat- have scammed eBay purchasers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a vendor in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but replies no action has been taken. The convicts have still not been caught .

An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and lent:" Cash on accumulation is very unusual and we would ask purchasers to always pay via the programme when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson did:" When "weve received" each of these reports of any happen, we assess the immediate menace, mischief and threat to the public and allocate police and natural resources accordingly .
