Thieves are supposedly consuming auctioneer website eBay to sell stolen vehicles under the identity of a legitimate vehicle, the BBC has seen .

Con craftsmen- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one victim- have scammed eBay customers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a vendor in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but alleges no measures have been taken. The crimes have still not been caught .

That follows when he found out the vehicle was stolen- there was little chance he had been able to get his fund back.

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common approach of vehicle theft.
The embezzled vehicle is given the name of a same lawful car, including licence sheets, chassis numbers and accompanying documentation.

Two motorists were scammed out of over PS17, 000 each
Prospective buyers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and included:" Cash on collect is very unusual and we were able to ask customers to always compensate via the scaffold when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson read:" When we receive a report of any incident, we assess the immediate menace, injure and danger to the public and allocate patrolmen and natural resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the rivalling demands that we may be facing at that special epoch and a decision is then started on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a applied BMW on the place.
