Thieves are allegedly exerting auctioneer site eBay to sell plagiarized vehicles under the name of a lawful automobile, the BBC has perceived .

Con artists- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one prey- have scammed eBay customers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a vendor in Rochdale .

Prospective purchasers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and supplemented:" Cash on collecting is very unusual and we would ask purchasers to always pay via the scaffold when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police representative articulated:" When we receive a report of any occurrence, we assess the immediate threat, distres and jeopardy to the public and allocate officers and natural resources accordingly .
