CON ARTISTS are using eBay to sell cloned cars and con customers out of thousands of pounds, a BBC investigation has felt .

Thieves are supposedly exercising auctioneer website eBay to sell embezzled vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a legitimate vehicle, the BBC has attained .

Con craftsmen- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one victim- have scammed eBay purchasers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a seller in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the incident to the police, but tells no action has been made. The convicts have still not been caught .
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Murray enunciated:" The police have known about this syndicate since January .

An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and computed:" Cash on collect is very unusual and we were able to query buyers to always compensate via the platform when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman replied:" When we receive each of these reports of any happen, we assess the immediate menace, distres and likelihood to the public and allocate policemen and natural resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the competing requisitions that we may be facing at that particular meter and a decision is then drawn on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a utilized BMW on the site.
