Thieves are supposedly exploiting auction website eBay to sell embezzled vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a lawful auto, the BBC has ascertained .

Con craftsmen- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one scapegoat- have scammed eBay buyers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a marketer in Rochdale .

An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and computed:" Cash on collection is very unusual and we would expect customers to always offer via the pulpit when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police representative suggested:" When "weve received" a report of any happen, we assess the immediate menace, evil and gamble to the public and allocate patrolmen and natural resources accordingly .
