Thieves are allegedly using auction locate eBay to sell stolen vehicles under the name of a lawful vehicle, the BBC has perceived .

Con artists- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one martyr- have scammed eBay purchasers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 buying a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but pronounces no measures have been made. The wrongdoers have still not been caught .

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common technique of vehicle crime.
The plagiarized vehicle is given the name of a same legitimate car, including licence slabs, chassis quantities and accompanying documentation.

Two motorists were scammed out of over PS17, 000 each
Prospective customers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and contributed:" Cash on collect is very unusual and we would invite buyers to always compensate via the programme when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson responded:" When "weve received" each of these reports of any incident, we assess the immediate threat, injure and risk to the public and allocate patrolmen and natural resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the rivalling requirements that we may be facing at that special experience and a decision is then done on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a use BMW on the site.
Mr Alexander said he was " gutted" and named the con artist as" froth of the earth ."
