Thieves are supposedly exploiting auctioneer website eBay to sell plagiarized vehicles for the purposes of the name of a legitimate automobile, the BBC has detected .

Con craftsmen- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one martyr- have scammed eBay purchasers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .
