Thieves are supposedly expending auction place eBay to sell embezzled vehicles for the purposes of the name of a lawful automobile, the BBC has detected .

Con masters- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one scapegoat- have scammed eBay purchasers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 buying a Mercedes from a marketer in Rochdale .

An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and added:" Cash on collecting is very unusual and we would expect purchasers to always compensate via the platform when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police representative read:" When "weve received" each of these reports of any incident, we assess the immediate menace, trauma and peril to the public and allocate officers and natural resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the contesting requests that we may be facing at that special meter and a decision is then done on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a used BMW on the locate.
