Thieves are supposedly using auctioneer locate eBay to sell embezzled vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a lawful car, the BBC has detected .

Con creators- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one scapegoat- have scammed eBay customers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a vendor in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the incident to the police, but speaks no measures have been taken. The wrongdoers have still not been caught .
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Murray told:" The police have known about this organization since January .

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common procedure of vehicle stealing.
The embezzled vehicle is given the name of a similar legitimate gondola, including licence dishes, framework numerals and accompanying documentation.

Two motorists were scammed out of over PS17, 000 each
Prospective buyers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and added:" Cash on accumulation is very unusual and we were able to query buyers to always compensate via the platform when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman mentioned:" When "weve received" each of these reports of any incident, we assess the immediate menace, distres and likelihood to the public and allocate officers and natural resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the rivalling requirements that we may be facing at that particular meter and a decision is then constituted on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a employed BMW on the area.
