Thieves are allegedly expending auction place eBay to sell embezzled vehicles for the purposes of the name of a legitimate car, the BBC has encountered .

Con creators- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one victim- have scammed eBay customers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a seller in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but says no action has been taken. The wrongdoers have still not been caught .
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Murray said:" The police have known about this syndicate since January .

That follows when he found out the vehicle was embezzled- there was little chance he had been able to get his coin back.

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common method of vehicle stealing.
The plagiarized vehicle is given the name of a same lawful vehicle, including licence platefuls, chassis digits and accompanying documentation.

Two motorists were scammed out of over PS17, 000 each
Prospective buyers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and supplemented:" Cash on collect is very unusual and we would query buyers to always pay via the scaffold when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police representative spoke:" When we receive a report of any occurrence, we assess the immediate menace, evil and threat to the public and allocate men and natural resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the vying requisitions that we may be facing at that particular term and a decision is then become on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a exerted BMW on the place.
Mr Alexander said he was " gutted" and named the con artist as" scum of the earth ."
