Thieves are reportedly exerting auctioneer website eBay to sell plagiarized vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a legitimate automobile, the BBC has found .

Con masters- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one casualty- have scammed eBay buyers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but replies no measures have been made. The crimes have still not been caught .

An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and contributed:" Cash on collect is very unusual and we would question buyers to always compensate via the programme when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman responded:" When "weve received" each of these reports of any incident, we assess the immediate menace, trauma and probability to the public and allocate officers and natural resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the vying requisitions that we may be facing at that particular day and a decision is then concluded on how to respond .
