Thieves are reportedly utilizing auctioneer area eBay to sell embezzled vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a legitimate automobile, the BBC has learnt .

At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but supposes no measures have been taken. The crimes have still not been caught .

Prospective purchasers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and added:" Cash on collecting is very unusual and we would query purchasers to always pay via the stage when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman remarked:" When "weve received" a report of any occurrence, we assess the immediate menace, damage and risk to the public and allocate police and resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the contesting requisitions that we may be facing at that particular time and a decision is then moved on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a exploited BMW on the locate.
