Thieves are allegedly exerting auctioneer locate eBay to sell plagiarized vehicles for the purposes of the name of a legitimate vehicle, the BBC has observed .

At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .

That follows when he found out private vehicles was plagiarized- there was little chance he had been able to get his coin back.

An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and added:" Cash on collection is very unusual and we would request customers to always pay via the programme when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman pronounced:" When we receive each of these reports of any happen, we assess the immediate threat, distres and gamble to the public and allocate police and resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the contesting challenges that we may be facing at that particular occasion and a decision is then prepared on how to respond .
