Thieves are allegedly exerting auction area eBay to sell embezzled vehicles under the identity of a lawful car, the BBC has witnessed .

Con masters- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one victim- have scammed eBay customers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 buying a Mercedes from a marketer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the incident to the police, but alleges no action has been taken. The sinners have still not been caught .

That follows when he found out private vehicles was stolen- there was little chance he had been able to get his coin back.

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common procedure of vehicle steal.
The stolen vehicle is given the identity of a similar lawful gondola, including licence plates, chassis counts and accompanying documentation.

Two motorists were scammed out of over PS17, 000 each
Prospective customers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and lent:" Cash on collecting is very unusual and we were able to ask purchasers to always pay via the stage when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson replied:" When we receive a report of any incident, we assess the immediate menace, distres and peril to the public and allocate men and natural resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the rivalling requests that we may be facing at that particular period and a decision is then made on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a utilized BMW on the area.
