Thieves are reportedly abusing auction site eBay to sell stolen vehicles for the purposes of the name of a lawful gondola, the BBC has detected .

Con artists- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one victim- have scammed eBay buyers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but adds no action has been taken. The culprits have still not been caught .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a exploited BMW on the website.
Mr Alexander said he was " gutted" and named the con artist as" scum of the earth ."
