Thieves are allegedly employing auctioneer site eBay to sell stolen vehicles under the identity of a lawful auto, the BBC has met .

Con masters- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one scapegoat- have scammed eBay customers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a marketer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the incident to the police, but says no measures have been taken. The wrongdoers have still not get caught .

An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and lent:" Cash on collecting is very unusual and we would expect customers to always offer via the programme when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman suggested:" When "weve received" each of these reports of any happen, we assess the immediate menace, trauma and peril to the public and allocate police and resources accordingly .
