Thieves are allegedly use auction place eBay to sell plagiarized vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a lawful auto, the BBC has discovered .

Con craftsmen- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one scapegoat- have scammed eBay purchasers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a seller in Rochdale .

Prospective buyers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and included:" Cash on collection is very unusual and we would expect customers to always compensate via the programme when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson answered:" When we receive a report of any happen, we assess the immediate menace, ill and gamble to the public and allocate policemen and resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the vying demands that we may be facing at that particular age and a decision is then constructed on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a squandered BMW on the website.
