Thieves are supposedly exploiting auction site eBay to sell plagiarized vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a legitimate gondola, the BBC has discovered .

Con artists- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one scapegoat- have scammed eBay customers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a marketer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but articulates no measures have been made. The delinquents have still not been caught .

Prospective buyers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and included:" Cash on collection is very unusual and we would request purchasers to always compensate via the stage when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police representative responded:" When "weve received" a report of any occurrence, we assess the immediate menace, impairment and danger to the public and allocate patrolmen and resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the rivalling asks that we may be facing at that special epoch and a decision is then fixed on how to respond .
