Thieves are supposedly exercising auctioneer area eBay to sell embezzled vehicles for the purposes of the name of a legitimate auto, the BBC has determined .

Con artists- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one casualty- have scammed eBay purchasers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 buying a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but does no measures have been taken. The wrongdoers have still not been caught .

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common technique of vehicle theft.

Prospective purchasers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and supplemented:" Cash on collect is very unusual and we would query customers to always pay via the stage when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman added:" When we receive each of these reports of any incident, we assess the immediate threat, evil and peril to the public and allocate patrolmen and natural resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the emulating requests that we may be facing at that particular era and a decision is then realise on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a used BMW on the site.
