CON ARTISTS are applying eBay to sell cloned autoes and con customers out of thousands of pounds, a BBC investigation has noticed .

eBay con artist are scamming motorists out of thousands of pounds online
Thieves are reportedly use auction area eBay to sell stolen vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a legitimate automobile, the BBC has learnt .

Con artists- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one scapegoat- have scammed eBay customers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the incident to the police, but adds no action has been taken. The culprits have still not been caught .
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Murray articulated:" The police have known about this gang since January .
" As a onetime police officer I'm absolutely outraged. How can you have any trust in the police ?"

That follows when he found out private vehicles was embezzled- there was little chance he could get his fund back.

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common technique of vehicle theft.
The stolen vehicle is given the identity of a similar lawful auto, including licence platefuls, framework multitudes and accompanying documentation.

Two motorists were scammed out of over PS17, 000 each
Prospective customers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and supplemented:" Cash on accumulation is very unusual and we were able to request purchasers to always offer via the platform when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police representative announced:" When "weve received" a report of any occurrence, we assess the immediate menace, trauma and danger to the public and allocate men and resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the emulating requisitions that we may be facing at that particular term and a decision is then obligated on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a squandered BMW on the place.
Mr Alexander said he was " gutted" and labelled the con artist as" froth of the earth ."
