CON ARTISTS are employing eBay to sell cloned cars and con purchasers out of thousands of pounds, a BBC investigation has concluded .

Thieves are supposedly expending auction site eBay to sell stolen vehicles under the identity of a lawful gondola, the BBC has felt .

Con creators- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one casualty- have scammed eBay customers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 buying a Mercedes from a marketer in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but says no action has been taken. The delinquents have still not been caught .

That follows when he found out private vehicles was stolen- there was little chance he could get his coin back.

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common technique of vehicle theft.
The embezzled vehicle is given the name of a similar lawful auto, including licence sheets, framework crowds and accompanying documentation.

Prospective buyers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and included:" Cash on collecting is very unusual and we were able to question customers to always compensate via the stage when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police representative replied:" When we receive each of these reports of any incident, we assess the immediate menace, impairment and danger to the public and allocate patrolmen and resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the participating demands that we may be facing at that particular epoch and a decision is then started on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a exerted BMW on the place.
Mr Alexander said he was " gutted" and named the con artist as" froth of the earth ."
