Thieves are reportedly exercising auctioneer website eBay to sell plagiarized vehicles under the name of a legitimate automobile, the BBC has noted .

Con artists- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one victim- have scammed eBay purchasers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said:" When we receive each of these reports of any happen, we assess the immediate threat, trauma and risk to the public and allocate detectives and natural resources accordingly .
