Thieves are reportedly exercising auctioneer website eBay to sell plagiarized vehicles under the name of a legitimate automobile, the BBC has noted .

Con artists- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one victim- have scammed eBay purchasers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a dealer in Rochdale .

An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and contributed:" Cash on accumulation is very unusual and we would query buyers to always offer via the pulpit when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said:" When we receive each of these reports of any happen, we assess the immediate threat, trauma and risk to the public and allocate detectives and natural resources accordingly .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a employed BMW on the website.
