Thieves are allegedly utilizing auction place eBay to sell stolen vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a legitimate auto, the BBC has observed .

Con masters- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one casualty- have scammed eBay buyers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the brand-new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 buying a Mercedes from a vendor in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but adds no measures have been taken. The delinquents have still not been caught .
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Murray read:" The police have known about this gang since January .

That meant that when he found out the vehicle was stolen- there was little chance he had been able to get his coin back.

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common procedure of vehicle crime.
The embezzled vehicle is given the identity of a same legitimate vehicle, including licence slabs, framework quantities and accompanying documentation.

Two motorists were scammed out of over PS17, 000 each
Prospective purchasers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and added:" Cash on collecting is very unusual and we would ask purchasers to always offer via the stage when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson responded:" When "weve received" a report of any incident, we assess the immediate threat, ill and peril to the public and allocate police and resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the competing requires that we may be facing at that special experience and a decision is then concluded on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a applied BMW on the site.
