Thieves are supposedly exploiting auctioneer site eBay to sell embezzled vehicles for the purposes of the identity of a legitimate vehicle, the BBC has concluded .

Con creators- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one martyr- have scammed eBay buyers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 to purchase a Mercedes from a vendor in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the accident to the police, but says no measures have been made. The delinquents have still not been caught .
