CON ARTISTS are abusing eBay to sell cloned vehicles and con customers out of thousands of pounds, a BBC investigation has located .

Thieves are reportedly exercising auctioneer place eBay to sell stolen vehicles for the purposes of the name of a legitimate gondola, the BBC has felt .

Con masters- dubbed" scum of the earth" by one scapegoat- have scammed eBay buyers out of thousands of pounds .
At least three vehicles in Greater Manchester were involved in the new con.
One victim, a retired police officer, was conned out of PS17, 000 buying a Mercedes from a seller in Rochdale .

Former copper Graham Murray reported the incident to the police, but responds no measures have been taken. The crooks have still not been caught .
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Murray suggested:" The police have known about this syndicate since January .
" As a former police officer I'm absolutely disgusted. How can you have any trust in the police ?"

That follows when he found out the vehicle was stolen- there was little chance he could get his coin back.

The scam is known as car cloning, which is a common programme of vehicle crime.
The embezzled vehicle is given the identity of a similar lawful gondola, including licence slabs, chassis multitudes and accompanying documentation.

Two motorists were scammed out of over PS17, 000 each
Prospective customers can run a background check on the car and the details will appear to be correct.
An eBay spokesman confirmed to the BBC that the accounts in question had been closed down and supplemented:" Cash on collect is very unusual and we were able to query purchasers to always compensate via the scaffold when purchasing ."
A Greater Manchester Police representative replied:" When we receive a report of any occurrence, we assess the immediate menace, evil and probability to the public and allocate men and resources accordingly .
" We do this with full consideration of all the vying demands that we may be facing at that particular period and a decision is then compiled on how to respond .

Another victim was a man from Forfar in Tayside who was scammed out of PS18, 300 when buying a employed BMW on the website.
Mr Alexander said he was " gutted" and named the con artist as" scum of the earth ."
